Post #1 Welcome to my Blog!!

Here I am: My name is Amy Shea (formerly Camara). I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education with a Minor in Natural Science from Carthage College in 2014. From there, I was hired by Racine Unified to teach 8th grade Science at Gilmore Middle School now Gilmore Fine Arts since becoming a K-8 school two years ago.

I chose to pursue a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction concentrating in Science to gain a better understanding of the ins and outs of what goes into creating and implementing an effective curriculum and even clear up questions I have about decision making in regard to Curriculum and Instruction at the district level.

Since starting my program I have become passionate about learning ways to incorporate Social Justice issues across the core topics and grade levels and integrating the nurture of Social Emotional Competencies school-wide.

    1. I've already read so many ideas that I can use to take students to the next level. Just gotta anchor it down and take it one topic at a time.

  3. Hi Amy,

I am excited to hear more about this. Will you change jobs with your degree? If so what kind of jobs are out there for someone with a masters in curriculum and instruction?

    1. I love being in the classroom too much to change jobs. I'm going to put in for a raise for sure though. lol. I do want to work on customizing the curriculum to include more social justice issues as it relates to our community and my students lives. I really think doors are starting to open and I want to be prepared for the next level.
